In 1983, 20 years old Lio was already catapulted to fame overnight, her image of sexy Baby Doll plastered across the covers of mainstream european music magazine, her reputation of “techno pop” artist already estabished, as a golden path where she had to follow. Of course, Lio decided otherwise and wrong-footed everyone with her third brilliant album “Amours Toujours”.
With its fine and delicate melodies, its daring but nevertheless gentle vocals, Amour Toujours falls within the scoop of purely traditional french songs; an ambiance perfectly displayed by famous photographer Robert Doisneau who shot a few Lio’s picture during that time. On this new mellow music perspective, everywhere is felt the influence of producer Alain Chamfort who brings his whole variété background in Lio’s lolita universe. From this typicaly french association ensues a serie of sincere and touching songs (“La Vérité Toute Nue”, “Je Voudrais Bien Me Sentir Mal”, “Motus à la Muette”) where you can still notice the distinctive lyrics of words-lover Jacques Duvall.
