1980 : After the first Suicide album for Marthy Thau's Red Star label, and the so-called Suicide's second album, for ZE records, Alan Vega decided a go solo for a while. He recorded his first and eponymous album for ZE records at Skyline Studio in New York only accompanied by Phil Hawk on guitar. Alan built his own musical identity, quite different from Suicide, since it's based on a minimalist destructuration of the rockabilly. Jukebox Babe was a hit single all over Europe.
1982 : Alan recorded after his second solo album for ZE « Collision Drive », these two first albums were re-released in 1989 as double CD, with liner notes from french news paper Liberation's Bayon.
1983 : His third solo effort, « Saturn Drive » was released by Elektra with ZE records's Michael Zilkha as executive produced, and produced by Ric Ocasek, who produced the second Suicide album.
1985 : « Just a million dream » was Alan's last solo project for a major. The rumour said that Elektra tried to kick him out of the recording sessions, wishing to produce what had already been recorded. In vain...
